Sonar Entertainment has signed an exclusive first-look deal with indie production company StoryBy Entertainment (Stitchers), with a focus on packaging underlying literary material. The first project set under the deal is a family drama based on real-life events written and executive produced by Rick Cleveland (House Of Cards, The West Wing).
“In the short time since they launched the company, the StoryBy team has already shown an uncanny ability to foster compelling and entertaining original projects,” said Gene Stein, CEO, Sonar Entertainment.
Current projects in development at StoryBy – launched in 2014 by Rain Management Group principals Jonathan Baruch, Michael Prevett and Rob Wolken as well as Howard Braunstein of Howard Braunstein Film — include Florent, for Showtime; High Strangeness, for Epix; Cooley & the Tank, for USA Network; What’s Up Wahlberg, for ABC; and an untitled vampire musical for CW Seed. It’s currently producing the second season of ABC Family drama Stitchers.
Sonar recently completed the Eli Roth-helmed series South Of Hell for WE tv and has finished production on The Shannara Chronicles, based on the best-selling novels, for MTV. Scheduled to begin production later this year is Taboo, starring Tom Hardy, for BBC One and FX.
The Sonar StoryBy deal was brokered by CAA and attorney Bob Myman.
