Skydance Media has hired Shannon Olivas as their new senior vice president of corporate communications, it was announced by the label’s founder and CEO David Ellison today. It’s a newly created position and Olivas will be creating and implementing Skydance’s communications strategies, while overseeing domestic and foreign PR efforts for the c0mpany and its properties.
In a statement, Skydance Chief Marketing Officer Anne Globe, who Olivas will report to, said, “As Skydance continues to expand, now is the ideal time to build out a strong in-house communications function.”
Added Ellison, “Shannon has an excellent reputation as a talented and well-respected communications executive within the entertainment industry and I am proud to welcome her to our leadership team.”
Prior to Skydance, Olivas served as VP of Corp Comm for The Honest Company. Prior to that she spent seven years in corp comm and investor relations at DreamWorks Animation. She previously worked at leading strategic corporate and financial communications firm, Sard Verbinnen & Co, where DreamWorks Animation was her client. She is an honors graduate of Syracuse University.
Skydance posted great results this summer from it’s co-production with Paramount, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation — which has made $613.3M worldwide. The company’s other franchise property Terminator: Genisys struggled stateside with $89.7M, but has made gains abroad raising its worldwide cume to $440.1M. Upcoming Skydance features include Star Trek Beyond for Paramount, which is still shooting, and is set for a July 8 release. There is also Geostorm for Warner Bros, which was recently moved to MLK weekend 2017.
