Fox is banking on the successful day-and-date global release model for two of the fall’s most anticipated dramas. Rookie Scream Queens and sophomore Empire will bow in all Fox International Channels licensed markets within 24 hours of their domestic debut on Fox. Outside the U.S., Scream Queens is set to launch on September 23 and Empire on September 24 (following their domestic release on September 22 and 23, respectively).
“Hollywood is waking up to how instrumental it is to harness the collective voices of outspoken international fans, especially for water-cooler shows like Empire and Scream Queens,” said Hernan Lopez, President & CEO of FIC. “We can’t wait to roll out these incredibly exciting series to fans around the world. The viewers we serve every day are driving the success of a show in its premiere window and all the way through its lifecycle.”
In the first season of Scream Queens, a college campus is rocked by a series of murders. Emma Roberts stars alongside Lea Michele, Jamie Lee Curtis, Oliver Hudson and Abigail Breslin. Empire, from Lee Daniels, Danny Strong and Brian Grazer, stars Terrence Howard as Lucious Lyon, the king of hip-hop, an immensely talented artist and CEO of Empire Entertainment, and Taraji P. Henson, as his ex-wife who was released from prison.
