Amazon has dropped the first trailer for its half-hour coming-of-age dramedy Red Oaks, created by Gregory Jacobs (Magic Mike XXL, The Knick) and Joe Gangemi (Eliza Graves).
Described as The Graduate meets Caddyshack, Red Oaks is set in suburban New Jersey in 1985. Craig Roberts (Submarine) stars as David Meyers, an NYU student, and a young man at a crossroads—conflicted about his major, confused about his relationship with his high school sweetheart, and unsure what to make of his parents’ recent confession that they may never have really loved each other. Hired as an assistant tennis pro at Red Oaks Country Club, David finds himself the recipient of unsolicited life advice from a colorful group of coworkers and wealthy club members including an alluring art student named Skye, (Alexandra Socha), her corporate raider father Getty, (Paul Reiser), and tennis-pro Nash, (Ennis Esmer). Jennifer Grey, Richard Kinda, Oliver Cooper, Gage Golightly and Josh Meyers also star.
David Gordon Green and Steven Soderbergh exec produce with Jacobs and Gangemi. Green, Andrew Fleming, Hal Hartley, Nisha Ganatra and Amy Heckerling direct. The 10-episode series debuts Friday, October 9 for Amazon Prime members in U.S. UK, Germany and Austria. Check out the trailer above.
