Launched a little more than a year ago, the Nonfiction Producers Association has passed a milestone: It says it now represents the producers of more than half of all reality TV shows airing in the U.S.
The nonprofit trade group, which was formed in July 2014, now represents 37 of the industry’s largest reality producers. The latest to join include Half Yard Productions (Say Yes To the Dress), Park Slope Productions (Alaskan Bush People), and Stephen David Entertainment (The Men Who Built America).
“It’s been truly inspiring to see so many of the industry’s top producers of nonfiction content express interest in joining this diverse and entrepreneurial group,” said NPA general manager John Ford, the former Discovery Channel president who took over the post from the group’s first GM Rick Feldman, who exited in May. “Even as the industry continues to evolve, producers like Half Yard, Park Slope and Stephen David exemplify why unscripted entertainment will continue to grow and thrive. We’re delighted to welcome these companies to the NPA as we continue to provide a unique, collaborative platform for industry issues and information, and for promoting best practices.”
