Paco Cabezas’s action comedy Mr. Right has found a suitor. Focus World hooked up U.S. rights to the Toronto closing-night pic, which stars Anna Kendrick as an unlucky-in-love young woman who finds her soulmate, who just happens to be an on-the-lam international hitman (Sam Rockwell) — meaning their road to true love is paved with shell casings. Tim Roth, James Ransone, Anson Mount, Michael Eklund and RZA co-star in the pic written by Max Landis.
Focus World will open the film from Amasia Entertainment and Circle of Confusion Production in association with 3311 Productions in theaters and VOD but did not announce a date. The deal was negotiated by Anjay Nagpal, Beth Lemberger and Gene Kang on behalf of Focus World, with CAA repping the filmmakers. Sierra/Affinity is overseeing international rights to the film.
