Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been tapped as the lead in CBS’ new comic-horror drama BrainDead, marking the first casting for the straight-to-series project from The Good Wife creators/executive producers Robert and Michelle King.
Set in the world of Washington, D.C. politics, BrainDead, slated for premiere in summer 2016, follows Laurel (Winstead), who is getting her first job in Washington, D.C. The daughter of a Democratic political dynasty who left D.C. to become a documentary filmmaker, she is pulled back into the family business when her brother, the Senate majority whip, needs her help running his Senate office. Now a young, fresh-faced Hill staffer, Laurel discovers two things: The government has stopped working, and alien spawn have come to Earth and eaten the brains of a growing number of congressmen and Hill staffers.
