Momentum Pictures acquired U.S. distribution rights to Forsaken, a Western that teams Kiefer Sutherland with his dad Donald Sutherland, with a Gala Toronto Film Festival premiere set for Wednesday. It’s their first screen pairing. Sutherland plays an 1872 gunslinger who retires and returns to his hometown in Wyoming to repair his relationship with his reverend father. The town is in turmoil as the railroad is coming through and thugs terrorize ranchers into selling. Despite his father’s wish he not return to violence, the gunman knows he’s the only hope.
Brian Cox, Michael Wincott, Greg Ellis and Aaron Poole also star in script by Brad Mirman.
Kevin DeWalt, Josh Miller, Bill Marks, Gary Howsam and Isabella Marchese Ragona produce and the film is directed by Kiefer Sutherland’s longtime 24 accomplice Jon Cassar.
