BoulderLight Pictures’ upcoming thriller Dismissed has its cast, adding Kent Osborne and Dylan Sprouse in the lead roles. The film tells the tale of an idealistic, straight-laced English teacher (Osborne) drawn down a nightmarish rabbit hole by an honor roll student (Sprouse) who will stop at nothing to get an A. Chris Bauer (True Blood) and Alycia Delmore (Humpday) also appear, with Randall Park (Fresh Off The Boat) rounding out the cast.
Dismissed is the first film to come out of Making Horror, Boulderlight’s and Making Film Limited’s financing partnership to produce three horror films. Directed by Benjamin Arfmann in his feature debut from a script by Brian McAuley, it’s being produced by J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures, along with Sev Ohanian, and executive produced by Making Film Limited co-founder Pang Ho-cheung. Making Film is fully financing Dismissed, which will begin shooting this month. BoulderLight and Bravos Pictures Limited will handle worldwide sales.
BoulderLight’s latest projects include Contracted: Phase II, released last week through IFC; Dementia, another IFC release starring Gene Jones and Kristina Klebe; and Uncaged, a werewolf film for the digital age, released through Image Entertainment. BoulderLight is repped by Stutz Law Corp.
Sprouse is best known as one half of the Sprouse Brothers team who starred in the Disney Channel hit The Suite Life Of Zach And Cody and spinoff, The Suite Life On Deck. Dismissed marks his return to acting after he and his brother Cole earned degrees from NYU. He’s repped by WME and Principato Young.
Known primarily as a writer, Osborne won an Emmy this year in the Outstanding Short-Format Animated program category for his work on Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time and has been nominated for eight other primetime Emmys. He also is strongly associated with the Mumblecore movement, and most recently wrote and starred in the indie feature Uncle Kent 2, which won the Visions Audience Award at SXSW.
