ABC has put in development a single-camera comedy pilot from filmmaker Kat Coiro (And While We Were Here, A Case Of You), which Julie Anne Robinson (The Middle) may direct. The semi-autobiographical family comedy is set in a South Beach Haitian restaurant.
Coiro grew up in the apartment above her parents’ Haitian restaurant Tap Tap in South Beach. Her parents both are from European descent but have strong ties to the Caribbean country and had previously taken in six Haitian refugees into their home in Key Largo.
Coiro is writing the script and will executive produce with Robinson and 3 Arts’ David Miner, Tom Lassally and Oly Obst.
