Shooting started in London last week on romantic comedy Their Finest Hour And A Half from An Education helmer Lone Scherfig. Starring Gemma Arterton and Bill Nighy, the first still from the production is above while Jack Huston and Jake Lacy have now joined the cast. Also aboard are Sam Claflin, Richard E. Grant, Helen McCrory, Eddie Marsan, Rachael Stirling and Henry Goodman.
The 1940s set film is a screwball battle of the sexes that follows the misadventures of a British movie crew trying to make a patriotic film to boost morale during the Blitz. Arterton plays a female screenwriter finding her way in matters of life, death and the heart.
BBC Films developed and will co-finance with Wales Screen and Pinewood Films. Produced by Number 9 Films and Wildgaze Films, led by Stephen Woolley and Amanda Posey, it’s based on the novel by Lissa Evans and was adapted by Gaby Chiappe. Hanway is handling international. Lionsgate acquired UK rights in Cannes.
Huston’s Ben-Hur and Pride And Prejudice And Zombies are both in post-production; Lacy is next up in Todd Haynes’ Carol. They are both repped by UTA.
