Disney/ABC Television Group is expanding its consumer and digital media areas with the hires of Cindy Davis and John Frelinghuysen in newly created roles. Davis joins as EVP, Consumer Experience and Frelinghuysen as EVP, Digital Media, Strategy and Business Development. The appointments were announced today by Ben Sherwood, Co-Chairman, Disney Media Networks and President, Disney|ABC Television Group, to whom both will report.
As EVP Consumer Experience, Davis will be responsible for developing an overall consumer experience strategy that will provide greater personalization and product opportunities across platforms, enhance the MVPD ecosystem, and support Disney/ABC’s marketing efforts. Davis will also help define and shape the company’s shift to a more programming services and consumer-centric business model.

As EVP, Digital Media, Strategy and Business Development, Frelinghuysen will oversee all aspects of strategy and business development across Disney|ABC Television’s portfolio of content and brands for digital content, products and technology as well as all mobile platform efforts. He is charged with defining and executing plans to effectively monetize both new and existing short-form and long-form content and distribution across multiple screens and platforms. He will also work closely with business unit presidents to enable the implementation of their initiatives.
Davis moves to Disney/ABC TV Group from Walmart where she served as EVP, Global Customer Insights and Analytics. Before that she served as EVP Membership, Marketing and eCommerce for Sam’s Club. Frelinghuysen previously served as SVP & Head of Strategy for AOL. During his tenure, he played a lead role in driving major M&A deals focused on new technology capabilities. He also spearheaded a comprehensive video deal between AOL and NBCUniversal which included digital and linear content production, digital distribution and ad technology.
