The Vancouver-based Bron group of companies that includes Bron Studios, Bron’s genre label The Realm, Bron Releasing, Bron Animation and affiliate companies have reorganized under a new parent company Bron Media Corp, with financial veteran Daniel D. McClure joining as president and COO. McClure comes to Bron from a CEO post at CQI Capital Management, which is an investment company based in Toronto.
This comes only a week before Bron Studios heads into the Toronto Film Festival with three titles, all getting their premiere at the 10-day event that starts September 10. They are I Saw The Light, the Hank Williams story starring Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen; Into The Forest, staring Ellen Page and Evan Rachel Wood; and Hyena Road, written and directed by Paul Gross.
In addition, Bron noted that it is continuing to expand its relationship with Jason Cloth and his CW Media Finance — a strategic financial backer behind more than $125M of Bron productions in the last 18 months. CW will continue to support the ongoing growth of Bron Media’s companies with Cloth continuing to work directly with Bron Media CEO Aaron Gilbert and now McClure. Cloth will also join the Bron Media board of directors. CW Media Finance Corp. is a Toronto-based company founded in 2005 by Cloth and Paul Tennyson that specializes in financing for independent film producers and distributors.
“Jason has been such a pivotal part of the expansion of Bron” said Gilbert in a statement. “The support and confidence he has provided has helped us take giant steps forward the last two years.”
McClure started his career in investment banking with Scotia Capital Markets and Morgan Stanley and then made the move into investment management as a portfolio manager and then an executive with Investors Group Inc. As part of Bron Media’s expansion, he will be based in newly established Toronto offices.
“We have reached a critical point in the growth of our various production entities where it was important to bring on an executive like Dan with deep experience in financial management and corporate organization,” noted Gilbert.
Bron was co-founded by Aaron and Brenda Gilbert in 2010 and is headquartered in Burnaby, BC, with satellite offices in Los Angeles, Toronto and a second facility in Duncan, B.C. Founded in 2005 by Cloth and Paul Tennyson, CW Media Finance provides investors consistent high returns with low volatility through its diversified and tested business model. Investors are provided a unique yield opportunity uncorrelated to other asset classes. CW Media Finance is able to leverage its strong relationships in film, TV and music to provide investors with a range of secured lending opportunities.
