The fund’s managing directors are Wei Han and Lin Qi. Wei is the Los Angeles-based co-founder and president of Bliss Media and CEO of YooZoo Pictures U.S. Lin is the founder and chairman of Youzu Interactive, which is the only electronic gaming company publicly traded on the main board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, with a market cap of nearly $4.5 billion. Qi formed YooZoo Pictures U.S.

CAA advised on the fund’s formation and will continue to represent it on an ongoing basis. YooZoo Pictures recently made its first investment, acquiring the Chinese distribution rights to the Mel Gibson-directed Hacksaw Ridge, from IM Global.

The money arrives just in time for the fall festival fever, with acquisition deals aplenty and new films being put together. This ought to make Wei Han very popular. She is the former managing partner of a Wall Street hedge fund and now steers YooZoo Bliss Media Ltd, an emerging international film company involved in film financing, production, acquisitions, sales and distribution. With Bill Mechanic, Wei produced The Moon And The Sun, which stars Pierce Brosnan, William Hurt, Benjamin Walker and Bingbing Fan. That film will be released next year.
