Timothy Olyphant, Shay Mitchell, Britt Robertson, Jack Whitehall, Aasif Mandvi and Loni Love have joined the cast of Mother’s Day, the ensemble romantic comedy from Garry Marshall that Open Road has already slated for an April 2016 bow. Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Jason Sudeikis are already aboard the film, the latest in Marshall’s franchise that includes Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve.
Anya Kochoff-Romano and Lily Hollander, Matt Walker and Tom Hines wrote the script for the pic, which began shooting in Atlanta last week. Wayne Rice and Gulfstream Pictures’ Mike Karz, Daniel Diamond and Brandt Andersen are producing.
Here’s how the newbies fit into the plot, which tells intertwining stories about the lives of several mothers as the title holiday approaches: Olyphant plays Henry, the ex-husband of Aniston’s character, Sandy. Mitchell will play Tina, Henry’s new bouncy, beautiful wife, who wants nothing more than to be the perfect stepmom to Henry and Sandy’s children. Robertson plays Kristin, a slightly neurotic new mother to a 1-year-old girl. Whitehall will play Zack, an aspiring standup comedian and boyfriend of Robertson’s character Kristin. Mandvi is Russell, a successful doctor and husband of Hudson’s character Jesse. Love plays Kimberly, a friend of Bradley’s (Sudeikis) and a mom herself. Lucy Walsh also co-stars.
Olyphant is with Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Mitchell with APA and David Dean Management, Robertson with Innovative Artists, Mandvi with Sweet 180 Management, Whitehall with CAA and Love with Levity Entertainment Group.
