EXCLUSIVE: Julie Rapaport has just left The Weinstein Company after seven years there to take an executive post at Amazon Studios. Rapaport, who quickly grew into a sharp production executive, was hired by Ted Hope to be an exec in production and programming for the streaming service, and she will help with its expansion into original feature films and series.
Rapaport began at TWC seven years ago as assistant to David Glasser (who will be exiting after helping transition a replacement in the COO post) in the international sales and acquisitions department. She became a production executive several years ago and rose to SVP. Among the features she worked on are the upcoming Bradley Cooper starrer Burnt, the Tim Burton-directed Big Eyes along with The Giver and August Osage County. She will continue to be based in Los Angeles and will be at Toronto as Amazon gets into the acquisitions mix.
