Fox has lined up a second drama from Peter Berg’s Film 44. An untitled hourlong project written by The Bridge co-developer/executive producer Elwood Reid has received a script commitment with significant penalty. Described as a “high-octane character drama,” the project follows the woman with the most lethal mind in America, a brilliant and ruthless military professor who is recruited by a former student to help a covert branch of the CIA deal with high-priority targets. “Elwood is an incredibly talented creator and a great collaborator; we’re excited to help bring this idea to life,” said Berg.
Reid and Berg executive produce, with Alissa Bachner, VP Television at Film 44, co-producing. 20th TV, where Reid is under a deal, is the studio.
This marks Film 44’s second sale at Fox under the company’s first-look deal there, both with penalty. The network recently handed out a put pilot commitment to an one-hour action comedy written by Burn Notice and Complications creator Matt Nix. Film 44 also has HBO series The Leftovers and Ballers.
Reid developed the FX version of drama The Bridge with Meredith Stiehm. The two ran the series the first season, with Reid serving as sole showrunner in Season 2.
Berg and Reid are repped by WME; Berg is also represented by Hirsch Wallerstein.
