Former Discovery Channel exec Dolores Gavin has joined Megalomedia as EVP of Development. Based in Megalomedia’s U.S. office in Austin and New York, Gavin will lead and oversee all aspects of the Austin-based prodco’s development in the U.S. and internationally. She will report directly to Megalomedia’s President, Jonathan Nowzaradan.
“Dolores is an accomplished executive who has proven her ability to find new talent and create breakthrough programming in both unscripted and scripted entertainment,” says Nowzaradan in a statement. “She has one of the most impressive track records for hits in our industry, making her a valuable asset for Megalomedia as we continue to expand our roster on multiple platforms.”
Gavin exited Discovery last year during the company’s restructuring. During her tenure there, Gavin oversaw all aspects of the network’s development and programming that originated from its East Coast headquarters in Silver Spring, and also was responsible for all scripted programming. Series under her purview included Gold Rush, Alaskan Bush People, Amish Mafia, Sons Of Guns, and Moonshiners, the last three of which she also served as executive producer. Before joining Discovery, Gavin served as VP of Programming at History, where she developed and supervised such series as Ax Men and Ice Road Truckers.
