It’s only the second night of the Season 2 premiere of Bachelor In Paradise (1.3/5) and already we had a wedding. Well, a wedding from last season’s engaged couple Lacy and Marcus actually – but it certainly ups everyone’s game. And the nuptials helped up the ratings results for the ABC series with an 18% uptick from the August 2 debut, which was down double-digits among the demo from the year before. Compared to its Monday August 4, 2014 debut, last night’s BiP was steady with just a 7% slip.
In fact, the opening slot of Monday’s primetime was pretty packed on the Big 4 and almost everyone seemed to get some love in one way or another. While American Ninja Warrior (1.8/7) won the slot and was the highest rated show of the night, the NBC series dipped 5% from last week. Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance (0.9/3) was up 13% in the key demo and up 11% in total viewers to 3.1 million. Spurned on by Running Wild With Bear Grylls (1.4/5) running up 17% among the 18-49s, NBC won the night with a 1.7/6 rating and 5.6 million viewers.
The rest of ABC’s night saw the new and live Bachelor In Paradise: After Paradise (0.8/3) drop 38% from its BiP lead-in. Heading into the ratings danger zone, The Whispers (0.7/3) tumbled 13% from its last original of July 20.
While even with the demo low hit by Cedric’s Barber Battle on July 27, the CW saw new comedy Significant Mother (0.3/1) draw the net’s best scripted summer series viewership numbers since 2010. With 868,000 watching, SM was up 56% in viewers over last year’s Seed. The rest of The CW’s night did not have such jolly news. Penn & Teller: Fool Us (0.5/2) was down 17% to match a series low and Whose Line Is It Anyway? (0.4/2) was even with its last new show of July 20 to also match a series low.
CBS was all encores.
