It hardely seems fair to primitive screwheads of previous generations who didn’t live in the era of streaming and cable taking over for networks and studios, but we live in a world where successfully resurrecting beloved cult hits in TV form after everyone figured they were gone forever is real. Following on the highly successful Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp on Netflix, we’re getting Ash Vs Evil Dead, a continuation of the cult trilogy about a department store stockboy who battles the legions of hell in his spare time.
Starz today posted a new (leaner, meaner?) trailer for the upcoming 10-episode season for Ash Vs Evil Dead, which premieres appropriately on Halloween Night. This version starts out like the longer trailer shown last month at Comic-Con but offers some different scenes despite its abbreviated running time.
The Starz series stars Bruce Campbell as an older version of his original character, Ash, plus Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo and Jill Marie Jones. Raimi is directing the first episode which he co-wrote with Ivan Raimi and Tom Spezialy. Craig DiGregorio is showrunner and exec producer along with original Evil Dead guys Raimi, Tapert and Campbell.
The premise? Ash is forced to confront his demons after 30 years of avoiding them when a Deadite plague threatens to destroy mankind.
