Syfy’s Erika Kennair has joined ABC as VP, Comedy Development and International Scripted Development. Kennair will focus on identifying international formats and writers/directors for drama and comedy and on developing new comedies. She will report to Samie Kim Falvey, EVP, Comedy Development and International Scripted Development. In ABC’s comedy department, Kennair, a new addition, joins Lynn Barrie, Jamila Hunter, Kelly Luegenbiehl and Jonathan Koa.
“Erika brings with her a wealth of new ideas, a strong background in development and an invaluable knack for finding the most talented and diverse writers and directors, which will help strengthen the Network,” said Falvey.
Kennair was most recently VP, Original Programming and Development, Syfy, since July 2010. She shepherded such series as The Magicians, Hunters, 12 Monkeys, Killjoys and the pilot, Incorporated. Kennair joined Syfy in 2008 as director of Development.
Previously Kennair, a New Orleans-born Cuban-American, was manager, Entertainment Diversity Programs, NBC Entertainment, since 2006. She was responsible for identifying diverse writing talent and created and oversaw the network’s competitive writing program, “Writers on the Verge.”
