EXCLUSIVE: Zoe Lister-Jones has joined HBO’s upcoming movie Confirmation in a recasting for injured Cobie Smulders. Lister-Jones will take on the role of Harriet Grant, Chief Counsel, Judiciary Committee Nominations Unit, for the committee’s chairman, Sen. Joe Biden (Greg Kinnear). Smulders, who was initially cast in the role, had to pull out because of a broken leg.
Confirmation details the Supreme Court hearings for Clarence Thomas (Wendell Pierce) that were rocked by testimony by Oklahoma law professor Anita Hill (Kerry Washington), which brought the country to a standstill and forever changed the way we think about sexual harassment, victims’ rights and modern race relations. In addition to Washington, Kinnear and Pierce, Lister-Jones joins previously cast Erika Christensen, Grace Gummer, Dylan Baker and Peter McRobbie.
Rick Famuyiwa is directing from a script by Susannah Grant. Lister-Jones, repped by WME, Mosaic, and Jackoway Tyerman, wrapped production earlier this year on the independent feature Consumed, which she co-wrote and produced with her husband Daryl Wein. Wein directed.
