NBC’s Season 2 debut of Welcome to Sweden clocked a 0.3/1 in the demo and 1.4 million viewers from 8-8:30 PM last night, equaling the show’s Season 1 finale in adult 18-49 rating and retained 92% of last summer’s finale in total viewers (1.401 million vs. 1.530 million). A second telecast at 8:30 PM scored same demo rating and 1.2 million viewers overall, also hanging on to its full lead-in stats in 18-34 metrics.
Last night’s debut is down 67% from last summer’s Season 1 premiere, when Sweden opened on NBC with a 0.9 in adults 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers. The comedy series last season averaged a 0.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers overall in Live+Same Day. Welcome to Sweden generated an upscale audience, indexing at 105 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (most current). The network announced last August that it had renewed the freshman comedy for a second season of 10 episodes.
Welcome to Sweden is an import, originally produced for Sweden’s TV4, which already had renewed it for a second season at the time of NBC’s news. Created by Greg Poehler and based on his life, the fish-out-of-water Welcome to Sweden is executive produced by his sister, Amy Poehler.
