Louisiana police have identified the individual behind last night’s tragic shootings at the screening of Trainwreck as John Russel Houser. The news was confirmed by Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft, who described Houser as “a kind of drifter’ who was from Alabama and had been in Lafayette since early July, staying in a local hotel. Police say various disguises were found at the hotel room where he’d been staying.
Houser fired at least 13 rounds, according to the police chief. “It appears he was intent on shooting and escaping,” Clark said of the shooter. “The quick law enforcement response pushed him back into the theater.”
The shooter killed two people and wounded nine others, three critically, before fatally turning the gun on himself, police said. There were about 100 people in the theater at the time.
