FX’s latest Denis Leary vehicle Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll averaged 867,000 total viewers for its premiere last night, including 440,000 in the 18-49 demographic. These are Live+Same Day numbers, which FX said about a year ago it considers pure horseradish — explaining, accurately, that it’s not 1998.
About a year ago FX said it would only discuss Live+3 stats because of the number of people who are not watching a program on even the same day in which it premieres on a TV network. Frankly, even that is starting to look a little behind the curve with all the changes in viewing habits.
FX’s recent Season 2 starter of Tyrant, for example, jumped 149% in the demo (from 376,000 to 935,000) and 121% in total viewers (from 1.06M to 2.35M). Last year Tryant’s Season 1 had only grown 53% in the demo and 47% in total viewers, from Live+Same Day to Live+3.
