Broadway got very presidential Saturday afternoon when President Barack Obama took in the Street’s buzziest musical “Hamilton,” Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hip-hop bio of Alexander Hamilton. Accompanied by daughters Malia and Sasha, and sister Maya Soetoro-Ng and her husband Konrad Ng, Obama joins the tuner’s political party of recent attendees: wife Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Dick Cheney beat POTUS to the punch at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

Following a morning stroll in Central Park and a family lunch at Manhattan’s Gramercy Restaurant, the President arrived with no time to spare for the 2 p.m. curtain. The show, which originated Off-Broadway at the Public Theater, where it won seven Drama Desk Awards, began its Broadway previews July 13, with an opening planned for August 6. Creator and star Miranda based the show on Ron Chernow’s Hamilton bio.
