NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt finished No. 1 across the board for a second consecutive week, increasing its audience and widening its advantage in all categories over the competition compared to previous week.
In Holt’s second full week as permanent anchor of NBC’s flagship newscast, he topped ABC World News Tonight by almost 1 million viewers (951,000), nearly tripling the program’s previous week’s 326K lead and marking its biggest total-viewer win over ABC since the week of December 22, 2014. Holt, who had been interim anchor since Brian Williams was suspended in February, until being named permanent anchor on June 18, now has won 7 of the last 10 weeks among total viewers. David Muir did not anchor ABC’s newscast last week, leading in to the July 4 holiday weekend, and all of the broadcast news programs were rated Monday through Thursday only.

Nightly posted the biggest gains among the network newscasts week-to-week, increasing in total viewers by 401,000, in news demo viewers by 61K and in the younger demo by 58K.
