Irwin Keyes, a veteran character perhaps best known as Hugo, the burly bodyguard on CBS sitcom The Jeffersons , died July 8. Keyes died at Playa del Rey Health and Rehabilitation Center from complications of acromegaly, a rare pituitary gland disorder, his manager Phil Brock of Studio Talent Group told Deadline. He was 63.
Keyes had dozens of TV and film credits over a decades-long career. He appeared in numerous horror films including House Of 1000 Corpses, and played Joe Rockhead in The Flintsones (1994) and The Flintstones In Viva Rock Vegas (2000). His other film credits include the Coen brothers’ Intolerable Cruelty, Woody Allen’s Stardust Memories and The Exterminator. On the TV side, in addition to The Jeffersons, he’s appeared on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Tales From The Crypt, Growing Pains, Married With Children and most recently Pretty Little Liars.
