Former VP of scripted programming at SundanceTV, Jordan Helman has been tapped by Hulu Originals to spearhead development and production of the upcoming slate of drama series. He will report to Head of Originals, Beatrice Springborn. Also joining the Hulu Originals team is Aaron Klemanski who will work under Helman on production, alongside drama executive Jessica K. Scott.
Helman’s credits at Sundance include work on Rectify, The Honourable Woman and The Red Road. He launched the network’s Los Angeles-based scripted operations in 2012 and served as the sole west coast creative executive. Prior to Sundance, Helman was a producer at Landscape Entertainment; he began his career in the Endeavor mailroom.
Klemanski was previously Director of Development at CBS-based Timberman/Beverly Productions (Masters Of Sex, Justified).
Among Hulu’s upcoming series are comedy Difficult People, produced by Amy Poehler with stars Julie Klausner and Billy Eichner and premiering August 5. Also on deck is drama 11/22/63 from Stephen King and J.J. Abrams starring James Franco; a new season of The Mindy Project which Hulu took over when Fox cancelled it after three seasons; drama The Way from Jason Katims’ True Jack Productions and starring Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan; Jason Reitman comedy series Causal; and RocketJump, the first longform project from Freddie Wong and the RocketJump team.
