Donald Trump just couldn’t fit into the boxes of presidential politics. Unlike other hopefuls in the 2016 race for the White House, the suddenly front-running GOP candidate decided to go public with his financial information via press release today (read it here). Claiming a personal fortune of $10 billion, the controversial mogul also revealed some hairpiece-raising pocket change he claims to have received from doing 14 cycles of NBC’s The Apprentice:
“NBC/Universal renewed, at the upfronts this year, The Apprentice (for a 15th season), but Mr. Trump decided to turn them down in order to run for President of the United States. NBC was not happy. During the 14 seasons of The Apprentice, Mr. Trump was paid $213,606,575.”
Deadline contacted NBC to verify the accuracy of the sky high sums Trump is claiming, but the network had no comment on the claims.. The Apprentice and The Celebrity Appreciate are produced by Mark Burnett’s United Artists Media Group.
With the amount of Apprentice money allegedly changing hands, it will be interesting to see if Trump follows through with his threat to sue NBC over the Comcast-owned network cutting all ties with him, the Miss USA Pageant and the Miss Universe Organization. BTW: Miss Universe is a co-owned venture between Trump and NBC, of which the network is actively trying to divest itself. Trump says today that he also filed a disclosure report with the Federal Election Commission as all candidates are required to do.
