Starz has set a October 24 premiere date for Season 3 of Da Vinci’s Demons, announcing it would be period drama’s final season and releasing key art. This means that Starz is yet to launch a original series that goes beyond three seasons, with Da Vinci’s Demons tying Spartacus: Blood And Sand as the pay cable network’s longest-running drama. (In addition to its three seasons, Spartacus also did a standalone prequel miniseries Gods of the Arena).
Season 3 of Da Vinci’s Demons — the series’ first without creator David S. Goyer at the helm — was picked up more than a year ago, in early May 2014, with a new showrunner, John Shiban. Season 3 will kick off more than 17 months after the series’ Season 2 finale.
Da Vinci’s Demons, which has done OK ratings-wise, follows the “untold” story of the world’s greatest genius, Leonardo da Vinci, during his turbulent youth in Renaissance Florence.
