ABC Family has found its Gorgeous Morons. Christopher Russell (Land Of The Dead) and Dylan Playfair (Mr. Hockey: The Gordie Howe Story) have been cast as the male leads in multi-camera comedy pilot Gorgeous Morons, from ABC Signature.
The project, co-created by Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky and Danny Chun and written by Chun, focuses on Madison and AJ, played by Russell and Playfair respectively, two stunningly handsome but ridiculously simple brothers who find their lives rocked by their brainy new roommate, American literature Ph.D. student Jane (Lilah Richcreek) whose looks are, by their standards, in desperate need of help.
Madison (Russell) is a pretentious but vapid model capable of getting whatever he wants by simply flashing his incredible smile. In serious denial that he’s aging out of modeling, Madison suffers an identity crisis after he’s cast as a dad for a catalogue shoot. After Jane moves in with Madison and his brother AJ, he admits to his insecurities and fear of letting people down. Behind his pride and vanity, Madison is a caring, loving man who wants nothing more than to provide for his brother.
AJ (Playfair) is a personal trainer and younger brother to Madison. Forever loyal to his brother, the two are attached at the hip. AJ is a former ugly duckling who is not always comfortable with his hunkiness. Dieting and personal grooming are more of a struggle for AJ than for Madison. When his landlord threatens to evict them, AJ invites Jane to live in their third room, unaware of her distaste for his brother. More charming than his smile or clueless nature is his constant optimism and ability to see everyone as a friend.
Russell is repped by Stephanie Moy at Luber Roklin, Artist Management and Lauren Levitt & Assoc. Playfair is repped by Adam Levine at Industry Entertainment and agent Carrie Wheeler.
