Fubar Films has optioned the thriller script The Fixer, a 2013 Black List screenplay from House Of Cards writer Bill Kennedy. The company will produce the film along with Rumble Entertainment. Set in the gritty intersection of the Los Angeles nightlife and organized crime, the plot follows a mob fixer who retires to repair his broken personal life but, finding his son distant and uninterested in a relationship, once again is drawn into the criminal underworld and finds a willing protégé in a young drug dealer.
The project will be produced by Colin Bates, Rumble Entertainment’s Gregory Chou and Joey Tufaro (Maggie), alongside executive producers Peter M. DeGeorge and William Stetson. The producers are out to filmmakers and eyeing production to begin later this year.
In addition to The Fixer, Kennedy is a writer on Netflix’s House Of Cards and NBC’s American Odyssey. Kennedy also is writing the feature Cyberstorm for Fox/Chernin and previously wrote the comedy feature Sex Ed starring Haley Joel Osment.
Kennedy is represented by WME, Kaplan/Perrone and Ziffren Brittenham. Bob Abramoff of Burgee & Abramoff negotiated the deal on behalf of Rumble Entertainment and Fubar Films.
