ARC Entertainment has acquired North American rights to Molly Moon And The Incredible Book Of Hypnotism, based on the first in the six-book Molly Moon series by Georgia Byng. Byng penned the adaptation along with Christopher N. Rowley, Tom Butterworth and Chris Hurford. Rowley also directs. Raffey Cassidy, Emily Watson and Dominic Monaghan star. Molly Moon And The Incredible Book Of Hypnotism tells the story of a young orphan girl, Molly Moon, whose world is turned upside down when she discovers a mysterious old book on hypnotism. Byng, Lawrence Elman, Ileen Maisel, and Simon Bosanquet produce and Phillip Alberstat, Norman Merry and Shezi Nackvi executive produce. ARC Entertainment will release the pic on VOD and in select theaters on August 14.
Bron Studios, the British Columbia-based producer of original live-action and animated motion pictures and series television, is launching The Realm, a new label, specializing in director-driven genre films. The label will be headed by Bron’s Garrick Dion. The Realm’s first project will be suspense thriller Collared, written by Chris Osbrink and directed by Alejandro Brugues (Juan of the Dead). It follows a man who, after being kidnapped and drugged, awakens in a city park to find himself fitted with a collar capable of producing motivating shocks or a fatal detonation unless he follows the orders of an unseen criminal mastermind. Production begins this fall in Greater Vancouver. Other projects in development include supernatural drama Eden’s Gate from Patrick Doody and Chris Valenziano (Beneath), and sci-fi tale Parallel, written by Scott Blaszak and produced by Bron and John Zaozirny.
