A top Relativity Media executive has left the embattled company for a high-profile job at the Fox network. Fox Broadcasting Co. has appointed Courtin as EVP and Chief Marketing Officer for the network. She will oversee on-air and off-air promotion and advertising, national media, multi-platform & affiliate marketing, design and social media, reporting to Joe Earley, COO, Fox Television Group, and Fox TV Group Chairmen and CEOs, Dana Walden and Gary Newman.
Fox has been without a dedicated head of marketing since the ascend of long-time marketing chief Earley. For a couple of years, since being elevated from President of Marketing & Communications to COO of Fox Broadcast Co. in August 2012, Earley juggled both roles until his latest promotion by Newman and Walden in August 2014 to COO of Fox TV Group. His new expanded role made it hard for him to continue to be hands-on involved in the broadcast network’s marketing operations, prompting a search for a new head of marketing.

“Angela is one of the most strategic and forward-thinking marketers in the business,” said Earley. “Her extensive background in integrated marketing, digital media, branding and content make her the perfect fit to evolve our marketing strategy in this changing TV landscape.”
Previously, three senior marketing executives at the network reported to Earley: Laurel Bernard (EVP, Marketing), Scott Edwards (SVP, On-Air Promotions and Operations) and Shannon Ryan (EVP, Marketing & Communications). Bernard and Edwards will now report into Courtin, while Ryan will continue to report to Earley, who will continue to oversee Research, Scheduling, Audience Strategy, Digital, Communications and Talent Relations.
Courtin most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer of Relativity Media, which filed for bankruptcy yesterday. There she was responsible for all film, television and sports marketing initiatives as well as all branding and advertising campaigns across the company. She also oversaw Madvine, the company’s branded entertainment and consumer products arm, and Relativity Digital. In addition, Courtin launched a new digital division. Before joining Relativity, Courtin was President of agency Dentsu Aegis Network U.S.
