PREVIOUS, JUNE 16 AM: No surprise here: The zombie apocalypse is coming back to Comic-Con again this year, this time bringing new friends along for the ride. AMC unveiled its plans for the annual confab today, with The Walking Dead and newbie companion series Fear The Walking Dead set for a Hall H presentation Friday, July 10. Another new AMC series, Into The Badlands, will be making its Comic-Con debut the next day.
For the Hall H presentation, AMC is grabbing two hours (noon-2 PM PT) to intro cast and producers for Walking Dead, TV’s highest-rated series outside of football, which returns for Season 6 in October, and Fear The Walking Dead, which premieres this summer. No airdates for either yet — those announcements are often the most newsy parts of these shindigs.
Among the cast and producers expected for Walking Dead: Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Chandler Riggs, Michael Cudlitz, Lennie James and Sonequa Martin-Green, executive producer/showrunner Scott M. Gimple and executive producers Gale Anne Hurd, Robert Kirkman, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert. For Fear: Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Frank Dillane, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Lorenzo James Henrie, Ruben Blades, Mercedes Mason, executive producer/showrunner David Erickson and Hurd, Kirkman, Nicotero and Alpert. Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick will moderate both panels.
Into The Badlands premieres later this year after it was picked up for six one-hour episodes. It stars Daniel Wu and Aramis Knight in the story of a ruthless, well-trained warrior and a young boy who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment. Its July 11 panel in Room 5AB from 10:30-11:30 AM will feature panelists Wu, Knight, Marton Csokas, Emily Beecham and Orla Brady with creators/showrunners /executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, executive producer/director David Dobkin, and executive producer/fight director Stephen Fung.
