Erik Baiers, who has worked on several of Universal Pictures’ most high-profile comedies, has been promoted to EVP Production for the studio. The executive worked on Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Bridesmaids and the upcoming Trainwreck with Universal comedy producer-director Judd Apatow. He also oversaw production on the Seth Rogen comedy Neighbors and is working on the sequel. He previously was SVP, a job he had held since 2012. He will continue to report to co-Presidents of Production Peter Cramer and Jeffrey Kirschenbaum, who made the announcement.

Baiers also works closely with longtime Universal production partner Working Title Films and oversaw production for the studio on the low-budget action-thriller Contraband, the romantic comedy About Time and Les Misérables.

Currently, he is working on upcoming films including Everest, which is set for release on September 18; Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s Sisters, directed by Jason Moore on December 18; and Michelle Darnell, starring Melissa McCarthy, dated for release on April 8.

Prior to Universal, Baiers worked for MGM, and he began his career with Imagine Entertainment.
