Turner Broadcasting System has promoted Rachelle Savoia to VP of communications. Savoia will handle Turner Content Distribution, the unit with Turner’s 10 domestic cable networks, and Turner Classic Movies. She will report to SVP Sal Petruzzi.
Savoia joined Turner in 2011. She has handled communications for major contract renewals with cable and satellite companies, content licensing deals with streaming services, and new media initiatives including TV Everywhere and Turner Private Networks, an operation that includes CNN Airport Network. Late last year she also oversaw media for TCM, and its annual TCM Classic Film Festival.
The promotion “reflects how highly we value her strategic communications skills, judgment and relationships,” Petruzzi says. “As the media landscape continues to evolve and new distribution platforms emerge, we will continue to count on Rachelle’s forward-thinking approach, creativity and keen understanding of our business to further enhance our position as an industry leader for these two important divisions within the Turner portfolio.”
Prior to joining Turner, Savoia worked for NBCUniversal’s Bravo network, Oxygen, Court TV, and Goodman Media International.
