EXCLUSIVE: Eion Bailey, who played the pivotal role of a self-help guru with a murderous streak in Ray Donovan, has been cast as lead in Extortion, the Phil Volken-directed nautical thriller indie film. Barkhad Abdi, Oscar nominated for Captain Phillips, also stars. Bailey plays a doctor on vacation with his family in the Caribbean who finds himself stranded in a vulnerable situation and extorted by an opportunistic migrant fisherman (Abdi). The deal struck between the two sends Bailey on a terrifying and heart wrenching journey to reunite with his family. Volken wrote the script and Alina Shraybman is producing. The film is shooting in Puerto Rico.
Bailey previously was seen in Fight Club, ER, and the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. He also co-starred with Antonio Banderas in HBO’s And Starring Pancho Villa As Himself. That led to the recurring roles on ABC’s Once Upon a Time and Showtime’s Ray Donovan. 13 Films is selling the pic and Bailey is repped by Paradigm and Industry.
