EXCLUSIVE: The rumors are true, the Highlanders and the monster hunters are coming back and the date is now set in Scottish stone for Starz in San Diego. Not unexpectedly, Outlander will be returning to Comic-Con this year after making a splash in 2014, I’ve learned. On the late afternoon of July 11, executive producer Ronald D. Moore will be taking the stage in Ballroom 20 of the Convention Center with cast members Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe as well as author Diana Gabaldon, who penned the bestselling novels which the TV series are based.
A hit for Starz from its August 9, 2014 debut and drawing female viewers to the previously predominantly male inclined cabler, Outlander has boasted an average of 4.9 million viewers during its 16-episode first season run. Renewed for a Season 2 just 6 days after its premiere, the 18th century-set love triangle time travel series ended Season 1 with a live same-day audience of 981,000 on May 30.
Making its Comic-Com debut, Starz’s new series new original series Ash vs Evil Dead will be in San Diego that week too. Lucy Lawless plus EPS Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell will be in Room 6A of the Convention Center on July 10 at 6 PM. A continuation of the beloved Evil Dead movie franchise, the 10-episode first season of series is scheduled to launch in the fall. I hear some new footage will be a part of the offering to0.
