EXCLUSIVE: Ever wonder what became of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer after the great Mark Twain finished writing about them? How about this: One served time behind bars, and the other’s a crooked cop. That’s the foundation of Band Of Robbers, a modern telling of the classic American novels that is premiering this year at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Kyle Gallner is recently freed jailbird Huck, and Adam Nee is the lawman, with the star of CBS’s upcoming Supergirl Melissa Benoist as Becky. See them all in the trailer above.
Nee and his brother Aaron wrote and directed the pic in which Huck hopes to leave the criminal life behind him, but Tom has other notions. The latter forms a group of crooks including Joe Harper played by Matthew Gray Gubler, and Ben Rogers, portrayed by Hannibal Buress, to hunt for rumored treasure – go figure. Avatar’s Stephen Lang is in the cast too. Band Of Robbers screens June 13 in the Zeitgeist section at LAFF, which runs June 10-18. APA is representing sales of Band Of Robbers.
