Former NatGeo CEO David Lyle is set as the first president of PactUS, a trade group for the stateside TV and digital content production industry. The group said it “aims to serve its members by helping them build successful creative businesses that deliver world-class programs to their buyers, regardless of genres or platforms.” Lyle’s initial duties will be to establish offices in Los Angeles and NYC, hire staff and find business and legal representatives to provide free information and advice to PactUS’ membership base.
The UK trade association Pact has represented the commercial interests of independent TV and content production companies in the UK for a decade.
“It’s a privilege to lend a voice to the thriving independent production community here in the U.S. – a group I love – at a time when the broadcasting and digital industries are becoming global in reach and ambition,” said Lyle, who also has served as President of the Fox Reality Channel and President of Entertainment at FremantleMedia. “I’m eager to introduce to the U.S. an organization that’s been crucial in protecting and serving the interests of UK’s independent content producers. Here in the U.S. production companies face many similar and some importantly different challenges.”
