Entertainment One’s boutique sales arm Seville International has kicked off its Cannes with strong pre-sales on Xavier Dolan’s It’s Only The End Of The World. The film, starring Marion Cotillard (Two Days, One Night), Léa Seydoux (Spectre) Vincent Cassel (Child 44), Nathalie Baye (Catch Me If You Can) and Gaspard Ulliel (Saint Laurent), has secured deals in the UK (Curzon Artificial Eye), Italy (Lucky Red) and Japan (Pictures Dept).
Active negotiations are underway in a number of other key territories. Seville International is handling international sales of the film around the world, excluding France where the film is being handled by MK2 and distributed by Diaphana/MK2.
The film is based on a play by Jean-Luc Lagarce of the same name. After 12 years of absence, a writer goes back to his hometown, planning on announcing his upcoming death to his family. As resentment soon rewrites the course of the afternoon, fits and feuds unfold, fuelled by loneliness and doubt, while all attempts of empathy are sabotaged by people’s incapacity to listen, and love.
The deals were secured for Seville International by Seville VP Anick Poirier and Director of sales Natalie Kampelmacher. Sons of Manual’s Xavier Dolan and Nancy Grant and MK2’s Nathanaël Karmitz will serve as producers along with Sylvain Corbeil.
