Starz has slotted Saturday, August 22, for the premiere of Seth MacFarlane’s new live-action comedy series Blunt Talk and the return of Survivor’s Remorse. The 10-episode first season of Blunt Talk kicks off at 9 PM followed by Season 2 of Survivor’s Remorse at 9:30.
Set in Los Angeles, Blunt Talk follows Walter Blunt, a British import intent on conquering the world of American cable news and the fallout from his well-intentioned but mostly misguided decision-making, both on and off the air. Patrick Stewart (the X-Men franchise, Ted) and Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook) star with Adrian Scarborough, Dolly Wells and Timm Sharp rounding out the cast. Blunt Talk, from MRC, is created by Jonathan Ames, who also showruns and executive produces with MacFarlane, Stephanie Davis and Tristram Shapeero. The series is greenlighted for a two-season, 20-episode commitment.
Survivor’s Remorse follows the life of Cam Calloway (Jessie T. Usher), a hardworking young basketball star who is thrust into the limelight after signing a huge contract with a pro team in Atlanta. In the second season, we see Cam and his cousin and confidant, Reggie Vaughn (Ronreaco Lee), continue trying to navigate Cam’s meteoric rise. Mike O’Malley executive produces and showruns. Tom Werner and LeBron James executive produce with Maverick Carter, Paul Wachter, Victor Levin and Hilton Smith. The second season of the half-hour scripted comedy series will feature 10 episodes – up from its six-episode first season.
