Michael Nyqvist and Famke Janssen are set to star in Every Good Boy Does Fine, a thriller that will be executive produced by Steve Buscemi. Finnish filmmaker AJ Annila will make his English-language debut on the pic written by Jonathan Dees. It will go before buyers at Cannes this month via 13 Films, which adds this to its slate of pics on offer on the Croisette.
The plot centers on a young boy Brian, verging on adolescence, a little angry and quite possibly a piano prodigy. But he hates practicing and playing — that is, until he meets music professor Mr. Anderson, who becomes Brian’s mentor and the father figure he needs. If only Brian didn’t increasingly suspect that Mr. Anderson is the serial killer that has been targeting musicians.
Jana Edelbaum and Rachel Cohen (The Inevitable Defeat Of Mister & Pete) are producing via IDeal Partners Film Fund along with Margo Klewans. Buscemi and Wren Arthur of Olive Productions are exec producing with 13 Films’ Tannaz Anisi. Shooting is set to start in July.
Anisi will be supported on the Croisette by newly appointed Director of International Sales Juliana Lubin, who comes over from the Exchange, and existing director Jae-woo Kim.
