UPDATED: It looked like a series finale, it felt like a series finale, and now the CW has finally made it official — the Season 4 closer of Hart Of Dixie was indeed its series finale. The network will not be ordering a fifth season of the small town drama starring Rachel Bilson. Hart Of Dixie is a rare CW casualty this season, with a whopping 9 series renewed for 2015-16.
The Hart Of Dixie finale, which featured weddings, dancing and water breaking, was on par in the demo with the Season 3 ender, drawing a 0.4 in adult 18-49. Among total viewers, the medical drama ended on a high note with 1.37 million viewers, up 55% from Season 3.
It will be a short run for the midseason CW drama that succeeded Hart of Dixie on Friday, The Messengers, which is being cancelled after 3 low-rated airings. The pre-Apocalypse series opened with 1.18 million viewers and a 0.3 in 18-49. It marked the lowest rated in-season scripted series premiere on the CW since Cult opened with a 0.3 and 940,000 in February 2013.
