Tim Griffin, who plays a key role on the upcoming Fox event series Wayward Pines, has been tapped to join the cast of New Line Cinema’s buddy comedy Central Intelligence, the Rawson Thurber comedy starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart. The pic centers on a mild-mannered accountant (Hart) who hears from a former classmate (Johnson) who was bullied in high school. The guy the accountant remembers as a loser now kills for the CIA and talks him into helping thwart a plot to sell military secrets. Griffin will play Agent Stan, a by-the-book subordinate at the agency. Amy Ryan also recently joined the cast playing the CIA operative who is chasing Johnson’s character. Filming is already under way in Boston. Griffin, repped by Pakula/King & Associates and Untitled Entertainment, will next be seen in Joel Edgerton’s directorial debut The Gift opposite Edgerton, Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall. Wayward Pines, meanwhile, premieres May 14.
Alexandra Daddario is joining Kate Upton to star in William H. Macy’s road trip sex comedy The Layover, which also added Rob Corddry, Kal Penn, Matt Jones and Matt Barr to the cast of the road trip sex comedy. Glee alum Lea Michele had been tapped to play Daddario’s role previously. The pic, written by It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia cohorts David Hornsby and Lance Krall, centers on two lifelong friends who decide to avoid their problems by taking a vacation only to find that their plane has been rerouted due to a hurricane warning. To make matters worse, they find themselves in a battle for the same guy during an extended layover in St. Louis. Macy will also be part of the cast.
