HBO’s Washington-centric comedy Veep kept step with the 2016 race for the White House, clocking 1.05 million viewers for its Season 4 premiere on Sunday night.

That’s up from a year ago when Veep returned for Season 3 with 955,000 viewers in a new 10:30 PM timeslot. ThatHBO logo, in turn, was down 20% from the 1.2 million who tuned in to the show’s Season 2 debut one year earlier. Last year’s Veep unveiling also dipped 3% from the 985,000 viewers who tuned in for the series’ Season 2 finale last June 23. Over two more replays, Veep logged a gross audience of 1.5 million.

Of Sunday night’s overall Veep-viewing crowd, 695,000 fell into the demo, but only 235,000 were ages 18-34. The 25-54 age bracket fared best: 720,000 viewers. The Veep season starter had followed the return of Game of Thrones, which clocked a series best crowd of nearly 8 million in its premiere.
