On the heels of a second season renewal of FXX comedy Man Seeking Woman, FX Prods. has inked a two-year overall deal with the series’ creator, showrunner and executive producer Simon Rich and his production company, Allegash Industries. In addition to continuing his work on Man Seeking Woman, Rich will develop future projects for FXP.
“Simon is one of the brightest and most innovative talents in television today,” said Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Prods. “With Man Seeking Woman, he took the age-old story of looking for love and turned it on its head. FX is all about that kind of creative risk taking and we jumped at the opportunity to develop future projects with him.”
Man Seeking Woman is based on Rich’s book of short stories, The Last Girlfriend on Earth. A sweet and absurd look at the surreal life-and-death stakes of dating, it stars Jay Baruchel as Josh Greenberg, a naive romantic on a desperate quest for love. Cast also includes series regulars Eric André and Britt Lower. Jonathan Krisel, Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer executive produce with Rich. Man Seeking Woman is produced by FX Prods.
Rich has authored two novels and four short story collections, including Spoiled Brats and Ant Farm. He’s written for the New Yorker, Pixar and Saturday Night Live, the latter of which earning him four Primetime Emmy noms and two WGA Awards.
