SAG-AFTRA has reached a tentative agreement on terms for a new Corporate/Educational & Non-Broadcast Contract. Formerly known as the Industrial Contract, it’s one of the union’s smallest collective bargaining agreements. Prior to the merger of SAG and AFTRA, it generated only about $10 million in session fees for SAG actors and extras, and only about $500,000 a year in residuals. It covers productions made for non-broadcast use, including those used in classrooms and stores, on DVDs shown in corporate offices and dealer showrooms, and instructional videos shown on websites or on new media platforms, behind-the-scenes footage, and b-roll footage.
The new three-year contract, which was negotiated with the Producers Group, includes an immediate 3% increase in minimum compensation, another 3% pay hike on Nov. 1, 2016, and a 0.5% increase in employer pension and health contributions. The deal must now be approved by the union’s national board of directors, which meets April 18-19.
“This is an important contract for our members,” said SAG-AFTRA president Ken Howard, “and I am pleased that we have again bargained a successful agreement with the Producers Group.”
